Welcome to USLA

The US Lusitano Association (USLA), is a 501(c)(3) corporation dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the Pure Blood Lusitano horse in the United States and Canada. In August of 2020, USLA was exclusively granted the APSL Protocol for operating as a sister organization for the support of the Lusitano breed in the United States and Canada. We work closely with APSL to register and revise Lusitano horses in the United states, and to support breeders, owners, and enthusiasts of the Lusitano in the US and Canada.

What we do:

  • Administer the registration and transfers of all Lusitano horses in the United States and Canada.

  • Operate the USLA Registry which consists of all APSL Lusitanos in the US and Canada.
  • Organize and administrate inspections required for the approval for all Lusitano breeding stock in the US and Canada.
  • Promote the Lusitano Breed throughout the equine industry through the hosting of and participation in equine events.
  • Provide educational opportunites for Lusitano breeders, owners, and enthusiasts.
  • Represent Lusitano breeders and owners to support the participation of Lusitanos in equestrian sports.
USLA is the only organization in the US and Canada with the right to register Lusitano Horses with APSL in Portugal.
