Each animal is issued an “NIN” or national identification number by the Association.
Having an NIN for a horse is the easiest way to locate that horse in the studbook, as the NIN is unique for each horse, while names are often not.
While all horses have an NIN, this does NOT mean the horse is approved for breeding and/or inscribed with APSL. The horse must have a LN/LGN number in the birth book and a LA/LGA number to be approved for breeding.
