The United States Lusitano Association (USLA) is pleased to announce that the 2026 USLA Lusitano Conference will take place Friday–Sunday, September 25–27, 2026 at Haras dos Cavaleiros in Magnolia, Texas.
We are honored that Haras dos Cavaleiros will serve as both the host venue and Headline Sponsor for the conference, providing an exceptional setting dedicated to the advancement of the Puro Sangue Lusitano in North America.
The USLA Conference brings together breeders, owners, riders, trainers, and industry professionals committed to the serious development of the Lusitano breed in the United States and Canada. The focus remains clear: strengthening breed standards, supporting functional excellence, and aligning North American breeding programs with APSL criteria.

Breeding Excellence
USLA Rising Stars Model & Movements Competition
A central component of the conference is the USLA Rising Stars Model & Movements Competition, where Lusitano horses are evaluated for type, balance, and movement. Horses presented may earn APSL Gold or Silver medals.
The Rising Stars competition is proudly supported by the Rama Dressage Foundation, whose commitment to developing young horses and riders helps strengthen the future of sport horse breeding and performance.
These distinctions recognize horses that combine correct morphology with athletic functionality and may contribute toward qualification for Recommended Reproducer status under APSL regulations.
Official APSL Inspection (Revisão)
The conference will also host an official APSL inspection for breeding. Mares and stallions will be evaluated according to the standards of the Portuguese studbook, including morphology, movement, and overall breeding quality.
Inspection remains foundational to responsible breeding and supports long-term selection decisions for Lusitano breeding programs.
Educational Symposium
Education is central to the USLA mission. The conference will include a two-session symposium with speakers addressing topics relevant to breeders, owners, and professionals working with Lusitanos.
Topics are expected to include breeding strategy, genetic evaluation, veterinary science, sport development, and broader trends affecting Lusitano breeding and performance programs in North America.
Sport and Performance
The conference will also include sport-focused programming highlighting the Lusitano’s versatility and functional heritage. Clinics, demonstrations, and special performances will showcase the connection between breeding evaluation and real-world performance.
